We treat our research staff as junior colleagues, integrating you directly into grant-funded projects that culminate in co-authored publications and direct industry or academic pipelines Role Description The Health Coach is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Tallahassee Metropolitan Area, with a mix of on-site responsibilities and some work-from-home flexibility. This role provides individualized health education and support to patients, students, and community members, focusing on lifestyle changes, chronic disease management, and preventive care. Day-to-day activities include conducting health assessments, setting achievable wellness goals with participants, developing personalized care plans, and offering ongoing coaching through in-person visits, phone calls, and virtual sessions. The Health Coach collaborates with physicians, medical students, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate services, reinforce treatment plans, and connect individuals to appropriate resources. Additional duties include maintaining accurate documentation, tracking outcomes, contributing to health promotion programs, and participating in quality improvement and educational initiatives within the College of Medicine. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in health education, patient coaching, and behavior change counseling, with the ability to motivate individuals from diverse backgrounds. Candidates should possess skills in communication, including clear verbal and written communication, active listening, and the ability to explain complex health information in accessible terms. Candidates should possess organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage caseloads, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate, confidential records. Candidates should possess collaboration and teamwork skills, including experience working in interdisciplinary healthcare or academic settings and building effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Candidates should possess basic technology and data skills, including proficiency with electronic health records or databases, video conferencing tools, and standard office software. Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, nutrition, social work, psychology, or a related field are preferred; certification in health coaching or chronic disease self-management is an advantage. Experience in community health, primary care, or academic medical environments, and familiarity with underserved or diverse populations, is highly beneficial.
